I am an artist and poet, living in Carrick. I draw inspiration from the local landscape and the seasons. This is reflected in my landscape paintings, drawings and poetry. I exhhibit with OSA in various venues and online. I undertake commissions for personal artwork and in literature I have produced three poetry publications over the past seven years. The latest book ‘Drawings & Poems’ brings together a selection of my artwork and poems in one volume. (Published by Amazon, October 2023)

Nether Auchendrane is the ideal Centre for on-site or off-site holidays and camps. The Centre offers spacious indoor residential accommodation as well as a large field suitable for camping and outdoor games. An outdoor activity play park for children aged 10 and under is available, and a zip-line for older youngsters, and there are games equipment for all ages – parachute, table tennis, giant Connect 4, giant Jenga, and various bats and balls etc.

Starting this summer until the end of next year North Carrick will be celebrating the 750th
Anniversary of the birth of King Robert the Bruce! So, Join us on the 15th July at 11am on
Maybole’s Glebe Park for an exciting trip back in time to the medieval ages for a great family
day out with something for everyone!
Maybole’s Glebe will play host to an arena with, music stage, countless stalls and food vendors,
as well as plenty of medieval themed activities for our young people to enjoy, including archery,
axe throwing and traditional calligraphy! Enjoy the sounds of bagpipes, tribal drumming and
hear your favourite Scottish pop songs live as you browse the event, and there will even be a
funfair for the kids to enjoy too!
The North Carrick Community Benefit Company have contracted a team to deliver the
Bruce750 Project and are so excited to see the plans develop! ‘NCCBC’ is a funder and
development organisation made possible by Scottish Power Renewables, which is focused on
improving the area of Maybole and North Carrick! You can find out more about NCCBC’s
activities via their website: www.NCCBC.org.uk
But why Bruce? Well, 2024 will mark 750 years since the Birth of arguably Scotland’s greatest
King, Robert the Bruce. It is widely believed by a number of historians that Robert the Bruce
was born at Turnberry Castle in North Carrick, and it is a well-known fact that Bruce spent his
childhood at Turnberry and was connected to North Carrick over the course of his life, most
notably being the first Earl of Carrick when the title became associated with the crown.
North Carrick will be celebrating this milestone by hosting a series of events commencing on
15thJuly 2023 with a Bruce Heritage Day in Maybole and continuing throughout 2024 with
events as diverse as a Bruce and Burns Supper, a Medieval Ecumenical Service at Crossraguel
Abbey and a series of lectures on Bruce, connecting Maybole and our surrounding villages
through our rich shared heritage. The highlight of 2024 will be our Bruce 750 Heritage
Celebrations that we hope will include a recreation of Bruce’s life in a pageant style procession
and battle re-enactment! Don’t forget to follow us on social media to keep up to date with the
programme of events!

Carrick Tae Kwon Do is a new Martial Arts club that has opened up in Maybole. Our classes run on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6-7pm for all ages. The club is run by Mr Connor Mulgrew, a 3rd Degree Black Belt and current member of the Scotland International Men’s Team. New participants are always welcome!
