Dunure Castle lies within Kennedy Park. The park has a well maintained car park available for visitors for £2.50 per car. Provides access to Dunure Castle and picnic ground as well as the 'Dunure Labyrinth'. A great outdoor meeting point for family and friends. The site also has a covid-safe toilet block which is proudly maintained to a very high standard. There are picnic benches and a BBQ area on site, as well as a kids' playground and several walks onto the Ayrshire Coastal path. The castle is a stone's throw away from the beautiful harbour with café, gift shop and pub.

Dunure Castle stands looking over the water, about 5 miles (8.0 km) south of Ayr, aside the picturesque harbour village of Dunure. The castle is open for the public to explore and has several public information boards for you to learn more. The castle has been a ruin for at least three hundred years, but was once the main fortress of the renowned Kennedy family - the Earls of Cassilis. The family who are more commonly associated with Culzean Castle, a few miles down the coast. Dating back to at least the 1200s, when it was originally built in the form of a stone keep - with the advantageous position on an easily defensible rocky outcrop overlooking the Firth of Clyde.
